50th Midnight at… upload! Midnight at the Commisary- Commerce Essentials

Happy Friday, everybody!

Overview

I begun the Midnight at… projects in mid-2017. This is a huge milestone; it marks my 50th upload in this series, and the 3/4 mark for the originally planned sets (although both Coni and I have added a few ideas since then). Huge thanks to all the fans for making the project worth doing.

This is the last of six “neutral” (non-divisional) sets. The commissary project was a larger undertaking than I originally thought, and had to be split into three parts. As per usual, it blends seamlessly with the objects from the other Midnight sets.

I’d originally planned a few more things for this series, but in the playtesting phase I ran into some difficulties.

• The industrial stove/podium combination is a nightmare clusterf*ck of BHAVs and BCONs. The stove (cloned directly from the Maxis NL stove) will work, but for home businesses, you can’t assign a chef. The podium works, but will not recognize any stove other than the original NL industrial stove as adequate for a restaurant on community lots. It doesn’t matter that the stove has exactly the same function as Maxis, the podium refuses to cooperate.

• The coffee bar (cloned directly from the Maxis object) won’t spawn NPCs.

• I originally wanted to include two hotel desks with this set, but I wasn’t able to make a working hotel door to go with them. All three items may be available for download in a future set.

The file includes:

Basics: Signs, odds, and ends for setting up commercial spaces. 8 new objects.

Foodservice: A bunch of deco and functional objects for building restaurants, food courts, and bars. 25 new objects

Shopping: A set of objects for setting up shops and stores. 29 new objects

The set comes with two collection files: one for Commerce Essentials, and a Megaset (including the objects from Sport and Fitness Essentials, Rec Essentials, and Commerce Essentials).

I’ve included the master objects for the base, monitor, cushion, clock face, uniform, and colored glass in a separate folder. You don’t need them if you already have Midnight at the Cryo Lab, Midnight at the Crew Quarters, or Midnight at the Decontamination Chamber installed.

Credits:

First and foremost, to Coni, who has been my good friend almost since the beginning and has provided support an alpha testing throughout.

Sophie-David for the original Trashmatic object.

bienchen83 for the original food stand object.

Sunni and SimWardrobe for the original work that went into the buffet platter.

Sunni and Sparklesim for the party cannister.

SimSlice for the original energy drink object.

fire_flower for technical assistance, and for commiserating about the stupid way Maxis coded its OFB objects.

LadyAquanine for her support and enthusiasm toward this project, and for running the best damn Sims 2 content boards on Pinterest.

Basics

Catalog: Misc/Misc §150-1309

Function: Public phone, trash can, and photo booth

Polys: Medium

Recolorable subsets: base (phone and trash fixture), base and curtain (photo booth)

Egghead stuff: The phone booth and photo booth work like their maxis counterparts. The trash can works like Sophie-David’s Trashmatic (it disintegrates dishes, trash, bills, and homework, and can be placed on residential or community lots).

Commercial Washing Machine and Salon Chair

Catalog: Electronics/Misc §1207-2534

Function: Special

Polys: High

Recolorable subsets: base and monitor (washing machine), base and cushion (chair)

Egghead stuff:

• The commercial washing has been completely re-coded. Instead of acting as a simple “recharger”, Sims who use it will slowly gain Hygiene and Fun motives, as well as Cleaning skill and Tinkering enthusiasm. For the “Wash clothes” interaction, Sims will remove their clothes (i.e. strip down to underwear while waiting for clothes to be cleaned). For the “Wash underwear” interaction the Sims will be naked (this interaction is a bit NSFW and can only be done by adults and teens; the fun motive gain is slightly higher).

• The salon chair works like the Maxis chair, with one caveat. On unowned community lots, the Sim cannot get a makeover from the NPC. This has to do with the way the original chair is coded. I spent hours checking the BHAVs and trying to get it to work right, but couldn’t find where the error was. The chair comes as is.

Neon Signs

Catalog: Electronics/Misc §205

Function: Deco

Polys: Very high!

Recolorable subsets: base, neon

Egghead stuff: They’re place-anywhere deco objects.

Foodservice

Bar Panels
Catalog: Misc/Party §550

Function: Deco

Polys: Low

Recolorable subsets: base and panel (mural), base and neon (mirror and shelves)

Egghead stuff: They’re deco for setting up bars. The mural has a slow scrolling effect. The shelves have 75 slots for your favrite deco liquor bottles.

Bars, Island Counters, and Glassware Rack
Catalog: Misc/Party §225-1855

Function: Bar, island counter, deco

Polys: Medium

Recolorable subsets: base and panels (bars), base (glassware rack)

Egghead stuff: The bars and island counters work like their Maxis counterparts. The glassware rack is a place-anywhere deco object.

Barstools
Catalog: Misc/Party §145

Function: Barstools

Polys: Very high!

Recolorable subsets: base, cushion

Egghead stuff: They work like normal Maxis barstools.

Fast Food Stands
Catalog: Appliances/Cooking §4501

Function: Fast food stand

Polys: Very high!

Recolorable subsets: base, clock

Egghead stuff: These are special diner fast food stands, and they work very much like bienchen83’s modded food stands. All four stands use the same model, but each stand has a unique menu of eight items (expanded mountain, far East, tropical, and diner menus).

To decorate around the object, make sure to use move_objects on. The barstools can be replaced with your favorite barstool, and you can use any island counters to create a bar/counter.

Buffet Tray and Restaurant Tables
Catalog: Appliances/Cooking §50-2050

Function: Buffet tray, tables

Polys: Very high!

Recolorable subsets: base, tablecloths

Egghead stuff: The buffet platter is a place-anywhere object that can be stacked on any table.  You can select the type of food it serves and set it to auto-restock. The tables work like standard tables.

Recolorable subsets: base, cushion

Egghead stuff: They work like regular Maxis chairs.

Buffet Tray and Restaurant Tables

Magazine Rack
Catalog: Misc/Misc §1005

Function: Magazine rack

Polys: Medium

Egghead stuff: It works like a Maxis magazine rack. Note: The custom magazines that come with the rack are DEFAULT REPLACEMENTS that correspond to the magazines on the shelves. The textures are a lot more details than those of the original magazines. The files are optional, and will overwrite the Maxis magazines.
